    Oregano

Oregano essential oil (Origanum vulgare) is a popular oil right now. There are countless Oregano oil health benefits being discovered every day, with uses ranging from cooking to use in hospital wards. The aroma is much like you'd expect - sharp and herby. It's not usually an aroma people are drawn to, but we put up with the aroma anyway because it works remarkably well.

Simply eating dried or fresh Oregano is good for you, but it's nothing compared to the potency of the essential oil of Oregano. It only takes a small amount to make a pretty big impact. It's most often used for immune support, respiratory support, and muscles and joints.

Primary Benefits

Used as a powerful cleansing and purifying agent

Provides immune-enhancing benefits

Supports healthy digestion and respiratory function

Excellent source of antioxidants

Can help to soften skin

Emotional Benefits

Oregano oil also has some interesting emotional and energetic uses, as well. It is said to teach a person non-attachment, especially to their own Ego and the false identities they've built into their lives. It may help a person to release the need to be right, diminishing (harmful forms of) pride, let go of unhelpful opinions (or the need to share them in unhelpful ways), and to learn not to cling tightly to the impermanent. Think of these things like emotional viruses that this antiviral oil clears swiftly and powerfully. This can leave a person able to dive into the flow of Life and their own spiritual practice without the common blocks (our own mind) getting in the way.

Complimentary Oils

Oregano essential oil blends well with Basil, Fennel, Geranium, Lemongrass, Thyme, and Rosemary.  To support these Oregano oil health benefits, also consider trying Thyme, Melaleuca, and Lemon.

Precautions of Oregano Essential Oil

This is a HOT oil - always dilute with any application! Avoid with children under 6 years. Internal usage should be kept to no more than a week. Always test for skin sensitivity prior to widespread use and use on the feet when possible. Excessive use of any oil can lead to skin sensitization. Keep out of eyes, ears, or nose. Not all oils are created equal, so test brands carefully, and never use an oil in a way not recommended by its maker.
