Cholesterol-reducing Statins May Cause Diabetes
One of the health leaders I follow is Dr. Suzy Cohen. She's a pharmacist-turned-functional-medicine-expert. She has amazing resources for thyroid health. But today it's cholesterol that she's talking about and I thought you'd be interested!
Suzy says...
There are 2 lies you probably believe, and if you believe them you could become very sick. Let me help you bust the myths: 1. Cholesterol is bad, and it should be reduced. Wrong. Cholesterol is actually essential to good health, it makes all the hormones and neurotransmitters that you need to feel great. You shouldn't reduce it too much or you'll become depressed, confused and lose interest in life. Drugs that lower it can give you diabetes. 2. High cholesterol comes from eating too much fat. Wrong.
Even though you've been brain-washed with that, the actual truth is high cholesterol is more closely associated with eating soda, candy, cake, bread, pasta and other empty carbs.
Very little fat from foods actually becomes cholesterol. Cholesterol reducing drugs may cause diabetes.
